Signature Strengths: Strategic

We're going through this leadership book for the Young Adult Visionary Team that Bee and I recently joined. The book is called Living Your Strengths, and it comes with a one shot code for an online "Strengths Finder" test. With our meeting coming up Monday I finally managed to set aside the time to take the test and it yielded some insightful and interesting results that I thought I'd share here. It's amazing how simple questions can produce such accurate results of yourself. I'm looking forward to reading through these specific strengths in the book.

As the report says, Your Signature Themes report presents your five most dominant themes of talent, in the rank order revealed by your responses to StrengthsFinder. Of the 34 themes measured, these are your "top five." So without further ado, here is the first of my top 5*

Strategic

The Strategic theme enables you to sort through the clutter and find the best route. It is not a skill that can be taught. It is a distinct way of thinking, a special perspective on the world at large. This perspective allows you to see patterns where others simply see complexity. Mindful of these patterns, you play out alternative scenarios, always asking, “What if this happened? Okay, well what if this happened?” This recurring question helps you see around the next corner. There you can evaluate accurately the potential obstacles. Guided by where you see each path leading, you start to make selections. You discard the paths that lead nowhere. You discard the paths that lead straight into resistance. You discard the paths that lead into a fog of confusion. You cull and make selections until you arrive at the chosen path—your strategy. Armed with your strategy, you strike forward. This is your Strategic theme at work: "What if?" Select. Strike.

*I originally had all 5 on here, but with all of the descriptions it got REALLY long. So I've broken it into three separate posts. :)

Wow, this is really interesting. What a great way to do a lot of self reflecting. It does not surprise me at all that one of your traits in Strategic. From the description, it sounds like what I picture you to be. Does that make sense?
I'm looking forward to hearing more about this. Have a great weekend!
