I accidentally stayed up till 2 last night. Well, I guess that's technically this morning. (does the spelling of "this morning' as two words bother anyone else because when people say it it sounds more like one because we don't enunciate clearly and we speak too fast?) My friend Bells lent me a book called Marked. It's the first of another wonderful Vampyre series (yes I meant to spell it that way) that just keeps getting better. I was in the middle of the third book Chosen around 10 last night when the bf left to go to work (they had a network thing last night from like, midnight to 5am...but at least he got to go home and go back to sleep all day after...that and study for his certification test tomorrow) Anyways, I was just going to read the rest of the section I was in before he left. Somewhere in there I finished the book and it was 12:30. Not exactly sure where time went...I think it sped up or something.
It could have ended there, but see, these books follow the same story line and lead into the one following. Chosen practically threw me into book four, Untamed. Before I knew it it was nearly 2 am and I FINALLY found a spot that I could maybe stop at. I had to resort to some deep meditation breathing to slow my mind down to actually fall asleep. Needless to say, I was a little tired today.
Okay, that's it. Sorry for the lame post (minus the part where I told you about an AMAZING series you totally have to read...I'll do more of a review soon), but it's really all I could think of at the moment. I've had a sort of apathetic writer's block of sorts. I'm sure I'll get over it soon. At least I'm caught up on my Reader. Gotta love summertime. Oh, and sorry for the shiny distracted random parenthetical comments littered throughout the post...my mind seems to be running like a hyperdrive or something. And yes, I did just make a Star Wars reference. My name is Jaina, and I'm a geek.

Photostory Friday: Guess What

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek
"Guess" What?

A few have asked to see my new glasses. Many of you know that I'm not really one to post pictures of people (including myself) on my blog, so this one may eventually be replaced with a picture of the glasses by themselves. But for now, here's a picture of me with the lovely glasses that allow me to spend time on the computer without my eyes aching from fatigue. These babies are the reason my reader count hit zero yesterday for the first time in forever.
Have a happy weekend!
(Oh, p.s. I'm not sure how obvious it is, so I figure I should mention that they are "Guess" brand glasses...hence the title of my post)

Belated Merry Christmas
Whew, seems like it's been ages since I was on a computer. Amazing how long a week can seem. Thanks everyone for the lovely Christmas wishes, I'll be around to catch up with everyone soon. The bf and I are heading back out to the desert tomorrow afternoon for New Year's out riding. Should be lots of fun. We'll come back early Friday morning because I have to work, but then we'll head out again for the remainder of the weekend. Lots of our friends are going out too, so it should be a really fun trip.
I'll probably get up a Christmas recount post, but right now I've got a lot of blogs to catch up on. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I'm sure I'll get up another post soon, but just in case, have a wonderful and shiny New Year! :)

Wisdom from the Reader
- No do-overs. In four-square, there are no "do overs." The same is true of life. If you screw up, you rarely get a second chance. Accept this and move on. Instead of arguing or pleading for a second try, figure out what went wrong and try to fix it. No one respects the kid who constantly requests a do-over, so accept your mistakes and focus on improvement.
- When it's time to go home, find a partner to cross the street with. There's safety in numbers and two heads are better than one. When it's time to head in a new direction, find someone to help you. Whether that person is a family member, a spouse, a partner, a friend, or a dog, they can be your support system to get you through life's hazards. Can you do things on your own? Absolutely. Should you lean on this person? Not necessarily. But whether you need them or not, having a friend to hold your hand as you cross the street can make the trip a pleasure.
This was part of this article in my Google feed reader today. (I'm a little addicted to my reader) I just thought these were interesting thoughts for life and wanted to remember them. I started writing this at work, but just got distracted, so sorry for the lack of commentary. But I'm sure you can appreciate the thoughts without my incessant rambling about them ;)
