Welcome 2011

I cannot believe it is 2011. It is shaping up to be a year of amazing changes and new adventures. It's been ages since I sat down to write anything, though there has been plenty to write about. I hope that 2010 treated you each well and holds many fond memories and starting points for an amazing 2011.

There are so many new and exciting as well as a few sad events to share. Rather than try to cram them all into one massively long (and possibly boring) catch up post, I'll put them into a few smaller posts over the upcoming days. A fond hello to all my friends and cheers to the new friends sure to come in the upcoming adventures of 2011.

Happy 2010!!

Happy 2010!! I hope that everyone had a safe and wonderful holiday and New Year. Mine was amazing, if a bit on the chilly side. We left the east coast at under freezing and stepped out of the airport into 70 degrees. I loved the east coast, but I was sure happy to be home in my warm California sunshine.

I have lots of stories to share from up and down the east coast. Fun adventures, long walks, nights with my cousin and her boyfriend, historical sites and all sorts of fun. I think the highlight of my trip was sitting around the living room with my Uncle Don, fiance and grandparents on New Years Eve, just chatting for a couple hours. It was quality time with my uncle that I absolutely loved. That's not to say that the rest of my trip wasn't amazing, it absolutely was. That moment was just one of the most meaningful.

I spent more time on the east coast in December than I did in California. Consequently, I had my first real encounter with jet lag. I went to bed at 5:45 last night and did not get up until 6 this morning. 12 hours was wonderful though and most definitely needed. Sadly, the fiance's grandmother passed away while we were gone, so we were at her funeral yesterday afternoon. It was a beautiful service though, I think she would have liked it. The fiance is doing pretty well, but I'm sure that prayers would still be very much appreciated.

I've cleaned most of my apartment but still have a few things to do. The spring cleaning bug always hits me after New Years. I guess I just like to start the year out clean and organized. It will also help as we delve into our wedding planning. I'm really excited. I should hear back from the chapel wedding coordinator hopefully Thursday to secure our date. I am SO excited!

I'm planning to keep up regular posting this year, let's call it a New Year's resolution. Maybe not everyday, but at least a few times a week (though daily would be great). I will also do my best to get more photos up as well since my blog did initially begin as a place to post my pictures. I have a few ideas for some series/themed type posts as well, but more on that later.

Holiday Hiatus

I light of the 2 + week trip I'm about the leave on, I am taking a short blogging break for the holidays. I had thought about scheduling a few posts to keep you entertained while I'm away, but I ran out of time and I am SO tired right now. By the end of today I'll have worked 33 hours since Monday. Crazy, huh? At least it saves some of my vacation time.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Be safe, have fun and enjoy the season. I'll see you in the new year in which I plan to resume a regular posting schedule. Let's call it my New Year's Resolution ;)

2009, it's going to be....wait for it...

Legen - dary!

There you have it. I've decided that 2009 is going to be wonderfully amazing, or as Barney Stinson would say, "Legen - dary". (If you haven't seen How I Met Your Mother, do yourself a favor and go watch it...it's an awesome sitcom) We have a brand new year, fresh and ready to go. Let's make the most of it, do things we've been wanting to do. Let's learn something new, go somewhere different, try a new food, get on top of the bit of clutter we've been meaning to get to. Anything is possible in the sunshine of a new year. Let's make it awesome, a year to remember.

What are you going to do to make it the best year ever?

Remember the goal: Legendary!

New Year's Goals

I've decided to set goals in lieu of making resolutions this year. I know that for some these imply the same thing, but to me they each have unique qualities, and that makes all the difference.

Here's an example of one of my goals:
~read the unread books waiting on my bookshelf

I want to read more, but I need to set more tangible goals rather than mere abstract resolutions that barely outlive their declaration. So without further ado, let me share my New Year's Goals with you...

~read the unread books waiting on my bookshelf (yes I have a list, no I don't want to bore you with the details in this post)

~balance my checkbook and keep my accounts up to date on a consistent weekly basis

~start a consistent routine to move more (I'm looking into Curves, but until I make the decision, I will be up a little early getting in a quick walk in the mornings)

~create a weekly chore routine and stick to it (the goal here is that I do a little piece of cleaning each day and my apartment just stays clean without requiring a multi hour block to get it all in order)

~do the dishes on a DAILY basis before going to bed (I've gotten really bad about dishes piling up in the sink)

I feel as though I'm forgetting a few goals that I'd had in mind, but I think these are some good, attainable goals to start with. And I can always add goals later...don't have to have a brand new year to make goals for myself.

Welcome 2009

And we're definitely welcoming it in style here. Sand Style, to be exact. It's a beautiful week out here on the desert, the weather is perfect. Much warmer than the last time, and beautifully clear. Went on a short ride over to the diner and to vendor row with Renee and Bells. It was fun and relaxing. The others were on a bigger ride this morning. We three girls spent some time reading, and then indulged in the movie Lost Boys. Really good 80's vampire movie. We've all got vampires on the brain. Did I mention that I started Twilight this morning? Loving it so far, though I have to admit that the different vamp rules are throwing me for a loop. I'm used to the Buffy rules of vampires..but hey, I'm flexible. Anyways, enough rambling.

I just wanted to write a quick post to wish everyone a safe and Happy New Year!!! I have a few posts scheduled for the next day or so, and when I get back I'll have up a good New Year's post with a few new goals and such. But right now we're making dinner to start our New Year's desert party off in style!!

Happy New Year!!!! Welcome 2009, it's going to be a great year!
