Temporary Leave of Absence

Figured while my wireless is ACTUALLY working (don't worry, will be emailing the guy here to suggest they add at least one more access point) I thought I'd post a quick update. All of my whining last week? Well, turns out it was somewhat justified. I went to urgent care and was diagnosed with tonsilitis. Went to the health center yesterday and tested positive for mono. Let me tell you, it's not at all fun. Wanted to cry because my throat hurt so bad. (my tonsils are NOT pretty to look at) Spoke to the doctor at urgent care late yesterday because I was in so much pain with my tonsils...he had me come in, and is now my new best friend. He gave me a shot of antibiotic (just to cover if there's a bacterial infection in addition to mono) and a shot of some steroid, which is the best thing that has happened so far...the swelling in my tonsils has gone down some, and it is no longer excruciatingly painful to swallow. It still hurts a little, but that's because of the sores on my tonsils. So mostly now I'm just really tired. I'm off of work for the rest of the week as I am contagious still. So I have lots of movies and tv on dvd, and I'm working on a 1000 piece Mickey Mouse puzzle.
Anyways, I'll have the bf's wireless link this weekend, so I'll post soon. I promise to catch up on everyone's blogs that I've been missing. But the wireless signal keeps dropping, so I should stop typing and hope this uploads. Hope you're all having a good week.

Oh, girl! YUCK. I hope you are feeling better soon. How long do they think you'll have mono? I don't know much about it, just that it takes forever to get rid of.

Oh! Jaina, so sorry to hear about your bout with mono AND tonsillitis. I am so glad you got a doctor who treated you with a little antibiotic. Many doctors now days don't want to start treatment until after the cultures confirm what the problem is, and in the meantime, you suffer for 2 or 3 days longer.

I hope between naps, you can enjoy your movies, tv, etc. Rest, rest and more rest seems to be a lot of help with health problems such as these. Enough of Dr. Ann's advice. That is what my friends call me when I get on one of my medical advice sessions...

I will check in later to see how you are feeling. Until then, I hope you have a speedy recovery. GET WELL FAST, FASTER!!!! HUGS.

Aww! I had mono in college and though it was a mild case, it still sucked! I hope you're feeling better soon. In the meantime, let BF spoil you silly!

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all the comments. I'm not all the way better, but I'm feeling much better. I'll be around this week to catch up on everyone's blogs. I've really missed everyone.

You were all so lovely to stop by and wish me well...couldn't sleep, and wanted to take a moment to respond individually. Thanks everyone.

Bee-I should no longer be contagious (unless you share a drink with me) I can't do any contact sports or anything physical like that for 4-6 weeks AFTER I'm feeling better. Apparently my spleen could rupture if I do. I'll probably be a bit tired for the next month, but at least the symptoms are starting to go away finally.

Gramma Ann- Thanks, me too. The doctor at the urgent care is my new best friend. He seriously saved me. I've been sleeping a lot and watching movies, I watched the first two seasons of How I Met Your Mother, and lots of naps. Thanks for the recovery wishes, they were definitely felt.

Eat Play Love- Seriously, not fun, definitely taking it easy. I do not recommend ever getting this. It sucks.

Mama Geek- It REALLY does suck. But I'm finally starting to get better. My puzzle is nearly done. I'll post a picture of it in progress and completed...you know, when it's finished.

Momma Bean- Ugh, it's no fun! I'm not sure how bad mine is on the scale of intensity...but it sure feels awful. Now that the bf is back, he's definitely spoiling me...I'm glad to have him back again.

Erin- Thanks, I'm finally starting to feel human again. My tonsils still have a good quarter inch at least to shrink before they are back to normal, but the steroids pills are doing their job and I'm hoping to be close enough to normal to get to work on Monday. We shall see.
