Flower Fields

I realized this morning that I've been putting off my post about the amazingness of the flower fields this weekend and how much I enjoyed them. It suddenly struck me that there is no "right" time for blogging. The thought of, "oh, I need a set, uninterrupted block of time to blog" is pervasive in my brain, and, as I realized just now, completely ridiculous. I lose so much in waiting to write. I have time here and there, and I don't know if you've all heard of it, but there is this great function on the blog, kinda like in your email, called DRAFT. It does this amazing thing where it saves what you've been working on so that you can come back to it later if you are interrupted. Amazing contraption really. And quite helpful when put to use. Really, I quite enjoy the little function. Basically, I need to stop making excuses and delaying writing. It's simply counterproductive and completely silly.
That being said, we went to the Carlsbad flower fields Saturday. Us being me, the bf, the manager, and high def. (wow, didn't take me long to come up with those additional nicknames for my friends) The manager just moved here from Washington to work with us, and doesn't really know anything about California. We're trying to plan fun excursions to familiarize him with our beautiful state. The flower fields were amazingly beautiful. I actually maxed out my memory card before we left. Of course, not all of the photos came out, but I have 300+ good/decent ones. Two are here in this post, and quite a sampling is now up on my Flickr account, so if you're bored or really love seeing flowers, check them out. (there's also a fun new link there on the side of my blog) I know I maybe went crazy with the photos, but really, if you'd been there, if you'd have seen it, you would have done the same! (yeah, definitely just got that song stuck in my head, lol)
After leaving the flower fields (which was a task unto itself) we went to this amazing pizza place and met another friend from work, and ate the best pizza lunch ever! They had great mozzarella sticks, absolutely mouthwatering with the lightest breaded outside. Wow, I just made myself hungry for them. All in all a lovely day!
Now that I mentioned the task it was leaving the flower fields, I feel like I should share that story, it's rather amusing. See, my inner child is about 5. My philosophy on life is that sure you have to get older, but no one said anything about growing up. Sure, I can be "grown up" and all that stuff when it's necessary, but when it comes down to it, I like to play and have fun. The 5 year old. I'm easily amused and love browsing through the toy store. That said, they have the buildings and props from the old Santa's Village that used to be up in San Bernardino. We happened to pass this section as we left the rose garden to leave. And it has a playground. So naturally, as they were trying to herd me and my camera towards the exit, I broke away and ran into the playground area. Of course I got distracted taking pictures of the really cool flowers, but I eventually made my way across the sand and climbed into the little house out of which stuck a slide. And as I went down the slide, the manager asked me what grade I was in, to which I replied I wasn't. Which is true, since I've graduated. The bf was much amused, and we made it out to the car after that brief detour to the toys. Now if only they'd had swings...

~note on the photo: Pretty much just put my camera down facing up towards the flowers and sky and took the shot. On Flickr I titled it something about Thumbelina's viewpoint. I was really pleased with how this shot came out without even looking at it.

There is nothing wrong with being easily amused! I take pride in it...and if other people weren't so easy to please, I wouldn't even have a blog!

Thanks Momo! I love being easily amused...and it tends to amuse other people too, so everyone wins, right? And I'm glad you have a blog, I love reading it! :)

Your philosophy on life is mine, too. I may be getting older, but inside? I'm still a 16-year old kid. I hope that never changes for me, either!

Nice to know it's a shared philosophy. :) I hope your inner child never changes either. I always come back to the quote that goes something like, we don't put our toys away because we get old, rather, we get old because we put our toys away. Absolutely love it. If my philosophy had a tagline, this would be it.

I love your philosophy! And I get that! And I NEVER have a good time to blog. But I always have time for my camera! :)

Thanks mamageek :) I also need to get better at always having my camera with me. It's all a work in progress. But I'm steadily improving. Thanks for stopping by! :)

BEAUTIFUL shots! The best advice I ever got shooting flowers was to NEVER shoot down on them. These shots had excellent perspective! Nice job and beautiful philosophy to match.

Thanks mamageek! I really appreciate your comment. :) I wish someone had given me that advice sooner! I have an awful time getting things to focus right. About halfway through our trip I managed to figure out how to make my camera behave, it was really exciting for me :)

Nice photos of the flowers. Those colors, so brilliant. What kind of flower is the one titled "odd petals"? It is so cool. Nice to know you can still act like a kid....it's fun. :)

Funny story about the slide.

Hope you had a good day - see ya - Kellan

Thanks Erin! I actually have NO idea what kind of flower that is, it was just growing in a little patch in the play area, there were no signs or anything. I wish I knew what it was, because it was so different, so cool.

Thanks Kellan! I'm glad you had a lovely vacation! :)

The picture of the "Foxgloves" is so beautiful, and brings back memories of my younger years. They grew wild in the area I grew up.

I too, don't blog everyday, I just blog for my own enjoyment, nothing fancy, just for fun.

Thanks for stopping by Gramma Ann. :) Are the "foxgloves" those flowers with the cool looking petals?

Your pictures are so beautiful!! You really did get some amazing shots!
I think it is always good to take the time to do the fun, silly stuff in life. It doesn't take much to amuse me either. I would have been total taken in by the old Santa's Village playground. The do need swings!

I use to put that pressure on myself about when to blog, but I learned to do it when it hits me. I should try to use the draft feature more often.

A special thanks for your kindness and support.

Enjoy the rest of your week!
