Hello

Apparently I'm not entirely past that whole blog writing apathy thing yet. Working on it. Time seems to be short these days. Or rather, I just have too much with which to fill it. But don't worry, I'm still here, I haven't disappeared (contrary to what my lack of posting might indicate)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. Ours was rather eventful what with the ground rolling for 2-3 minutes. Longest earthquake I've ever felt (that I remember) The fiance was sitting down and wasn't feeling well so I went out to the back patio to get him a glass of water. As I was standing there, it felt like the table was moving....or I was moving. I'm usually really fast at this stuff and hyper sensitive to earthquakes, but this one took me a moment. My whole family was together, gathered throughout the house, wondering when it was going to stop. My mom was leaning against the door near where the fiance was sitting, and ended up having to sit down in the fiance's lap because she got so dizzy. I wasn't inside at the time, but it was a rather entertaining story. The water in the pool sloshed a good 5 or 6 inches over the side, it was crazy.

I finished my fondant and gumpaste class, I learned a lot and am having a great time with all the new creative possibilities. As for the class itself, I relied on my visual learning and the pictures/instructions in our book. By the end my teacher was speaking primarily in Spanish, but at that point it wouldn't have mattered if she was speaking Swahili, because I had switched to visual learning. I definitely won't take another class there, but I'm glad I got the fondant and gumpaste under my belt. I will have 3 new cake pictures up later this week.

We're rapidly closing in on the one year mark to our wedding. Things are starting to get going, still have a lot to do though. I couldn't be more excited about everything, it's so nice when everything falls into place :)

I'm glad to hear everyone survived the earthquake. I heard about it on the news, and have been reading blogs of others who also survived it. Funny about your mother finding your F's lap to set in. TTFN

Gramma Ann-Thank you. It wasn't a bad one, it just felt like we were on a boat or something. As long as they aren't incredibly destructive and hurt people, I really don't mind earthquakes, I actually think they're kind of fun. (I know, I'm weird) This kind, while it makes some people dizzy, is much smoother and easier than the jarring ones...those are the ones that do the damage, when the plates collide or shift along each other. This one felt like a pull apart quake. All's well that ends well though...my mom was really funny, the fiance didn't mind though, cause he's awesome like that.

I'm glad you're safe! I have never felt an earthquake (though we did have one here in Ohio when I was little...but, I didn't feel anything). I bet you will be telling that story about your mom in the fiance's lap for years! Too funny!

Momo-Thanks, me too. I used to be afraid of earthquakes when I was little. Well, not so much the earthquake but the uncertainty of aftershocks. We figured out that was because the way our apartment building swayed. I eventually got over it, and it's been much better since I'm not in a high rise place anymore. We will definitely retell that earthquake story, especially the part about my mom and the fiance...it was really entertaining when I heard the story.

Wow, what an exciting Easter you had. And what a hilarious story!

I loved the fondant class, I have used those books and tips so often I can't believe it. I am so excited to see your pictures!

You will quickly learn that fondant has no limit, you can do ANYTHING with it. :)

Heidi-It was definitely entertaining and eventful. I really enjoy working with fondant and gumpaste now, and you're right...you can do just about anything with it. I like it much better than I thought I would. :)

Fondants is something that I desperately want to learn how to make, I don't really know of any places in my area that teach short classes like that though, i'm wondering if perhaps there is an online how to, I have found several recipes, i may soon be searching YouTube videos.

Sarah Katie-The fiance has made two different kinds of fondant. For my classes, I used the premade Wilton stuff. I'm sure there are how to's online. Let me know if I can be of any help. You'll have to let me know how your fondant experiments go :)

Wow, glad you all are ok! I have friends out there... didn't realize that you were one of them!! And the time thing??? I TOTALLY get that. I feel like there's always more to do at the end of my day, sometimes I wish it were the other way... more day left at the end of my to-do list. Haha :)

Tabitha-Thank you :) I absolutely agree, I think we need to find a way to implement the more time at the end of the to do list thing, it would be SO nice.
