Summertime

It's nearly June, how crazy is that? It seems like May just started. It's basically summer already, even though I no longer have semesters and classes to define the seasons. Summer has a certain allure to it, there's always something so exciting and promising about those long summer months. Ice cream and smoothies, days spent lounging at the beach or by the pool, strawberries and peaches, daylight until 9ish. Library trips and reading tons of books, art projects and the 4th of July. Sleeping late, trips with friends, sleepovers with the girls, movie nights. Even though I don't have the traditional summer anymore, I'm still looking forward to all of these things. Summer is here, I just have to start it! I'm going to be compiling a list of all the things I want to do this summer, and then I'm going to start doing them! I plan to take time to play and enjoy life, like the orca in today's picture. (sorry, haven't gotten around to uploading Disneyland yet) What are your plans for the summer? What are your favorite things to do, what are you most looking forward to?

I am most looking forward to being with my children and my husband at the beach or on the boat. There is nothing better than that. I can't wait to run around in barefeet, and get ice cream from the ice cream man, and catch lightning bugs, seriously, summer brings out the big kid is me. Woot!

This summer I am planning a vacation, I'm undecided right now, but I am leaning toward going to the Grand Canyon. But, that is still a maybe. Also, I would like to go visit my children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, but I can't do both, so will have to make up my mind soon.

We will be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary on July 3rd, so I am looking forward to doing something to celebrate it!!!!

But with the high gas prices, who knows how far we will be able to go. I tease my husband we'll go until the money runs out. He just gives me the evil eye look;)

Have a fun time with your friends and family.

I love to devour books during the summer! I can't believe June is here either, I often wonder where in the world does time go?

Carefree and barefoot are two of my favorite summertime things!

I look forward to summers more and more as the Beans get older. We're already wrestling with them to get them inside for bedtime! I am looking forward to reading on my deck while the girls play, taking them to a Tigers game, going to Cedar Point, having my nephew in town for a month and enjoying the fresh air! Oh, and ice cream. Lots of ice cream! :)

ConverseMomma-the beach and boat sound wonderful! I definitely agree with the barefoot...I absolutely HATE shoes.

Gramma Ann-Sounds like you have all sorts of fun things to plan. And early congratulations on your 50th wedding anniversary, how exciting! I remember a few years back for my grandparents 50th we had all the family out and had a really nice dinner at Black Angus, and then a bit of a party after. My aunt got this picture quilt made for them full of family pictures and we all put together two huge scrapbooks for them. Each family also chipped in some money, which we got in cash and put in a blender and gave it to them to be used for a trip of some kind. It was a lot of fun.

EatPlayLove-I like the way you think. Carefree and barefoot, there's nothing better...except of course being carefree and barefoot while devouring books. ;)

MommaBean-Amen to ice cream! Sounds like you're going to have a wonderful summer with the Beans :)

Time at the lake sounds wonderful, especially after seeing those pictures from your most recent trip. I hope you have a great time! I know you will, because when you aren't at the lake you'll be lounging in that paradise you call a backyard! ;)

Noooooooooooo. I had a hard time that night after I spent the morning watching the trailers and the clips. I couldn't handle the whole movie! You have to tell me what happens when you see it. ;)
